Stanley skipper Seamus Conneely can’t wait for the chance to take on Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.
The Reds will travel to the Riverside to take on the Premier League side after they were paired together in last night’s fourth round draw.
And Conneely is pleased with the draw.
“We’re very excited to get a Premier League team,” said the Irishman. “The club’s been there a few years ago and Accrington won, which is good. We’re looking forward to it.
“We got down to the last four balls in the draw and Manchester City were still in there so we thought we might get them but we’ll take the chance to go to Middlesbrough.
“Just to be in the fourth round is exciting and hopefully we can put in a good show like we did at West Ham in the EFL Cup. I’d imagine it’ll be a similar sort of occasion and hopefully we can bring them back to the Wham Stadium for a replay or get the win there and get through.”
The Reds previously won in the EFL Cup at the Riverside in 2013 and Conneely feels a return trip is attractive to the current crop of players.
“They’ve done well in the Premier League but might have one eye on that, might rest a few players and there were a few upsets this weekend so it might be a similar story in the fourth round,” he concluded.
“It’s a Premier League ground so I’m sure the facilities are very good and all the lads are looking forward to going there.
“We’ve won three games already to get here so to be one of the few League Two teams left in is great. It’s very encouraging. I’m sure Middlesbrough will do their homework and be ready for us and we know it’ll be a competitive game.”
