Match Report

Three goals in 12 first-half minutes cost Stanley in a game that they otherwise dominated at Yeovil.

Kayden Jackson put Accrington ahead in the 12th minute, when Artur Krysiak spilled a Billy Kee shot straight into the forward’s path.

Yeovil turned the game on it’s head with two goals from Olufela Olomola and a Francois Zoko strike that stunned Stanley.

Jackson scored his second early in the second half but despite endless spells of pressure the Reds couldn’t find the equaliser that their play deserved.

The home side made a lively start with the energetic Olomola causing problems down the left hand side.

But the first meaningful effort of the game led to the opening goal, Kee struck an effort from the edge of the area which was spilled by Krysiak into the path of a delighted Jackson who made no mistake slotting Stanley into a 12th minute lead.

From that moment the game flipped on it’s head, the warning signs came when Otis Khan tested Aaron Chapman from distance before Connor Smith flashed an effort wide of the post.

In the 27th minute the pressure told, Olomola firing Yeovil level after the ball fell kindly to him following Khan’s blocked shot.

Seconds later Zoko crashed an effort off the bar, with the help of a fingertip from Chapman, but he didn’t have to wait long to get his goal, stabbing home inside the area after Stanley’s keeper had smothered a Rhys Browne shot.

Yeovil had their third almost instantly, a mix-up in the Stanley defence led to Chapman racing off his line but he couldn’t beat the pacey Olomola to the ball, the striker took a touch before slamming home from distance.

Stanley began the second period how they started the first, the dominant side, and it took just six minutes for Jackson to score his second, a calm finish past the goalkeeper after Kee had slipped him through.

From that point the Reds turned the screw, Seamus Conneely, Jordan Clark and Mark Hughes all went close with efforts in quick succession as they searched for an equaliser.

Ball after ball was sent into the Yeovil penalty area but Stanley couldn’t find the elusive equaliser at Huish Park.

Attendance: 2464 (88 away).
