Stanley return to Friday night action and are hoping that it brings about a return to winning ways.
The Reds have drawn their last two, at Wycombe and at home to York, but haven’t won since beating Burton on home turf last month.
Manager John Coleman has stated his initial aim is mathematical safety and will be out to add three valuable points.
Newport are in the play-off mix, sitting in the final spot in seventh place ahead of the game.
They’ll be out to strengthen their grip on the top seven places and their chances of extending their season.
Goalkeeper Andrew Dawber is also sidelined with a thigh problem.
New signings Tony Warner and Ryan Jennings go straight into the Stanley squad for the game.
Sean Maguire is away on international duty with Ireland under 21’s but could be back in time.
They won the Conference South league title in the 2009/10 season, before spending the next three seasons in the Conference. They then gained promotion to the football league in the 2012/13 season by beating Wrexham 2-0 in the Conference play-off final at Wembley, with the goals coming from Christian Jolley and Aaron O’Connor.
County then spent last season in League Two and finished in 14th place in the table on their return to the Football League.
Dack stepped up from Newport assistant manager to take the top job when Justin Edinburgh left for Gillingham earlier in the season.
After a playing career spent in non-league football he was appointed assistant to Edinburgh in 2011 with the Exiles.
He’s now taking his first steps as a manager in his own right and hoping to guide County to an immediate promotion.
25 year old Byrne signed for the club in the summer from Barnet and has so far scored four goals for the club.
Byrne started his career at Notts Forest and had several loan spells at clubs including Burton Albion and Rushden and Diamonds and also had two spells on loan at Barnet. Byrne then signed for Barnet on a permanent deal in 2011 and made a total of 147 appearances and scored 19 goals during his three spells at the club before signing for county in the summer.
Earlier this season it was 1-1 at Rodney Parade and last season’s game at the Store First Stadium finished 3-3.
In the opening game of last season County were 4-1 winners in their first match back in the Football League.
Stanley are without a win in six matches, though they have taken points from their last two outings against Wycombe and York.
John Coleman’s men are 16th in the League Two table, nine points above the relegation places and 12 worse off than Newport.
The visitors are seventh and have a one point cushion over eighth places Plymouth.
They’ve won one, lost one and drawn two of their last four matches.
