Piero Mingoia has agreed to sign for Cambridge United at the end of his current Stanley deal.

He’ll move to the Abbey Stadium next month.

The midfielder had been offered a  new contract with the Reds but wanted to move closer to his family in the south of England.

Mingoia has played almost 150 times for Stanley over two spells, initially signing on loan from Watford before signing permanently in the summer of 2013.

The 24-year-old has gone on to be one of the club’s most consistent performers and a regular in the side.

He scored 15 goals in his time at the Wham Stadium.
