For the duration of the Accrington Stanley U18s pre-season tour to Holland, scholars Nathan Wolland and Harry Waterhouse will be blogging their experiences. In their first update the duo give us an insight into the travel arrangements and how the team spent their first day in Holland…..
Everyone was buzzing with excitement when we met at Manchester Airport on Monday morning. Our flight was at 11:10am, so we had a bit of time to get breakfast before we headed to gate 49. The flight was really quick, only taking around an hour and we soon touched down in Amsterdam, Holland. After encountering a busy and crowded boarder control, we collected our luggage and boarding a coach to the Fitland Mill hotel.
We had a bit of time to settle into our rooms before heading out for a light training session which was great after travelling all morning.
Training was followed by dinner at the hotel, the food is really good here and there is lots of variety to keep everyone happy such as soup, pasta, rice, chicken, beef and salad. After dinner, we had a tour of the complex we are staying at. The complex is brilliant and has everything we need whilst we are here. There is a kit room, team meeting room, a gym and a pool – which I’m sure will be used a lot during our stay here.
We ended the day with some free time and many took the opportunity to walk to the local shops and play cards before heading to bed. Everyone is looking forward to seeing what the next couple of weeks has in store for us.
