Accrington Stanley welcome back Piero Mingoia to the Wham Stadium, after the attacking midfielder put pen to paper on a two-year deal.

Fans’ favourite Mingoia will join the Reds on July 1st when his current deal at Cambridge United expires, becoming John Coleman’s second signing of the summer.

Mingoia was a popular member of the Reds’ squad during his first three-year spell at the club, but moved to Cambridge for personal reasons after the 2016 campaign.

“I’m over the moon,” said Mingoia after signing. “This place means a lot to me and my family. I’ve always got on so well with everyone here it’s like coming back home. I can’t wait to get started.

“I would like to contribute as much as I can to the team and help out where I can. I know the manager is always extremely ambitious, so he won’t be settling for the bare minimum. That’s what I like about him, so I can’t wait to work with him again.”

Mingoia had a special message for Stanley supporters after completing the deal.

“I’d like to thank the fans for the way that they’ve always treated me,” he said. “I hope to repay them again like I did before.

“Part of the reason for coming back was because of the way the Stanley fans have treated me. Over the last couple of years I was still getting messages from them, asking me to come back, and I couldn’t ignore it. It’s a privilege to be back here.”
