Accrington Stanley are hosting a food bank collection on Saturday 27th October, 1230pm – 3pm, to support local charity Maundy Relief.

Fans, families and members of the community are urged to bring along a spare tin of food or dried food items for donation, if they can. These items will be collected at the Wham Stadium on behalf of Maundy Relief, and will go directly back to the Hyndburn community – helping those who need it the most.

Maundy Relief are known in the Hyndburn community for being the frontline response team who immediately help anyone in need when they have nowhere else to turn. Their services are open to all and include help with physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.

The collected food items will be transported to Maundy Relief’s drop-in centre on Charter Street, Accrington. The items will be used for food parcels that are available to all those in need throughout the local area.

Julie Hesmondhalgh, Maundy Relief Patron, commented: “I am over the moon that in these difficult times, and as winter draws in, that the wonderful gang at Accrington Stanley have teamed with our good friends at Scott Dawson Advertising to collect much needed supplies for the food bank at Maundy Relief.

“At the moment we’re giving out five or so parcels a day to people who can’t afford the basics; and the need to keep our cupboards well stocked has never been greater.

“This will help the Maundy staff and volunteers enormously as they struggle to meet the increasing need for food bank donations in the area. Thank you.”
