In November 2018, Accrington Stanley gave away a free shirt and free tickets for a selection of home games to almost 1300 children in Hyndburn.
This was part of the club giving back to the local community – to encourage youngsters to take an interest in sport, to get involved, and to be proud of their local team.
Stanley Chairman Andy Holt said: “Originally the decision was made to give away free shirts to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the current reformed club in October 2018. The success of the day inspired us to commit to the shirt giveaway for the next five years.
“The local community is important to us and we want to support where we can. We look forward to welcoming you to the Wham Stadium!”
Sharon Benson, HR Director at Studio, sponsors of the Eric Whalley Stand, commented: “For just £40 for two paying adults and up to four children under 12 going free, or £20 for one paying adult and two children under 12 going free, families can enjoy a day of football plus free face painting, free hot dogs and free milk for children! There will be the opportunity for pictures with the League Two trophy, as well as Accrington Stanley’s mascot.
“It’s so important for the next generation to experience all the borough has to offer. We can’t wait to see lots of new families enjoying the Family Fun Day!”
