Billy Kee sent Stanley through to the Fourth Round of the Emirates FA Cup with a victory over Championship bottom club Ipswich Town.
Kee headed home the only goal of the game in the 76th minute when a Sean McConville free kick to the far post was headed back into the danger area by Ben Richards-Everton and the striker was there to find the back of the net from six yards out.
League One Stanley more than matched the Championship side who had former Reds Kayden Jackson and Toto Nsiala in their starting line-up.
Stanley forced the early pressure with a Sam Finley strike blocked and the midfielder forced a low save out of Ipswich keeper Bartosz Bialkowski on 12th minutes.
Jordan Clark was denied by Bialkowski while Callum Johnson fired wide from distance and winger Clark’s fierce effort was blocked as Stanley bossed the chances created.
Nsiali blocked a shot from Kee while Ipswich were limited to long range efforts with Jon Nolan firing over from 25 yards.
Stanley almost broke the deadlock on 39 minutes when Clark got the ball in the box but Bialkowski produced a superb save to stop him tucking the ball into the bottom of the net.
The Ipswich stopper was the busier, diving on the ball before Finley, and Connor Ripley’s first real action was on 44 minutes as he kept out a Freddie Sears strike.
Ross Sykes headed off-target from a corner while Clark had a free header at the end of the half but it was inches wide of the post as he turned to celebrate.
After the restart, Ripley had to scramble back to stop a header from Richards-Everton sneaking in as Ipswich forced the early pressure.
Clear-cut chances were limited with Town sub Teddy Bishop rolling a shot just wide for the visitors and Ripley did have to push out a powerful strike from Nolan on 69 minutes.
Stanley broke the deadlock when McConville was fouled 25 yards out by Jordan Spence and his free kick saw Kee head home his ninth goal of the campaign.
Ripley denied Sears as Ipswich looked to get back in it but the Reds held on to celebrate a Fourth Round spot, with the draw on Monday with Stanley ball 14.
